Who Cares about Greek Art?

The concept of this project has been initiated in 2005 and developed in an open debate of both international and Greek London based artists which lead  to an exhibition that co-curated by C.Mitrentse and Z.Pappa in an independent space in Athens 2006. In an era where the loose desire for formulation of a Greek contemporary art scene is debatable, essential conceptual foundations are needed towards developing  a potential new model of cultural identity within the globalized cultural reality and in line with the recent radical western developments. The show Who cares about Greek Art? creates  the first open platform inviting international artists from diverse cultural back rounds to dialect on discourses of  cultural identity, multi-culturalism and socio-political models of art  production within Athens’ local context.
